  • Top; 4oz + 6oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass

RESIN: ISO 10X Resin

FLEX: Our most flexible construction

WEIGHT: Heavier than our EPS constructions

DING RESISTANCE: Relative to other PU boards ours are some of the toughest. Not as ding resistant as our Eco Base and EPS constructions

ECO BASE Construction Info:

Made from the same core blank as our Base construction, but with a heavier weight glass job for added durability and finished in the ground breaking Resin Research Bio Resin Epoxy

BLANK: SOLARMADE US Blanks PU

GLASS: Under 6'4"

  • Bottom; 6oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass
  • Top; 4oz + 6oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass

GLASS: Over 6'4"

  • Bottom; 6oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass
  • Top; 4oz + 6oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass

RESIN: Resin Research Bio Resin Epoxy

FLEX: Middle of the ground flexibility, not as much flex as our Base or Flex Tech, but more than our toughest F1X construction

WEIGHT: Our heaviest construction

DING RESISTANCE: After our F1X construction this is the second toughest we do. That extra glassing really doing its job

ESE Construction Info:

Simple, quality, and highly effective. Our ESE utilises US Blanks Superfused EPS in its purest form, with just some carbon fibre re-enforcement along the black stringer to give it some extra pop

BLANK: SOLARMADE US Blanks Superfused EPS

GLASS: Under 6'4" & Over 6'4"

  • Bottom; 4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E & S-Glass
  • Top; 4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E & S-Glass + Carbon Stringer Re-enforcement

RESIN: Resin Research Epoxy

FLEX: Middle of the ground flexibility, not as much flex as our Base or Flex Tech, but more than our toughest F1X construction

WEIGHT: One of our lightest constructions with only the Flex Tech construction lighter

DING RESISTANCE: Middle of the ground toughness, showing stronger ding resistance than our Base and Flex Tech, but not as much as our ECO Base or F1X constructions

FLEX TECH Construction Info:

Similar to the ESE but with the addition of a PU stringer that adds both flex and damping. Despite being our lightest construction it rides with a smoother feel not normally associated with EPS

BLANK: SOLARMADE US Blanks Superfused EPS with PU Stringer

GLASS: Under 6'4" & Over 6'4"

  • Bottom; 4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E & S-Glass
  • Top; 4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E & S-Glass + Carbon Stringer Re-enforcement

RESIN: Resin Research Epoxy

FLEX: After our Base construction this is the next most flexible

WEIGHT: Our lightest construction

DING RESISTANCE: Similar to ESE with middle of the ground toughness, showing stronger ding resistance than our Base, but not as much as our ECO Base or F1X constructions

F1X Construction Info:

Similar to the Flex Tech construction with its PU stringer but with an additional layer of INNEGRA fibre making it our toughest construction

BLANK: SOLARMADE US Blanks Superfused EPS with PU Stringer

GLASS: Under 6'4" & Over 6'4"

  • Bottom; 4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E & S-Glass
  • Top; (4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass) + INNEGRA fibre layer

RESIN: Resin Research Epoxy

FLEX: The strength of this construction means that it also has the least flex

WEIGHT: Despite its strength it is lighter than both our Base and ECO Base constructions, but heavier than ESE and Flex Tech constructions

DING RESISTANCE: Our toughest construction, both in terms of ding resistance and life time durability

The concept was born from not wanting to surf a longboard when the surf is not great. So after surfing a few super grovellers from other brands we started to build an understanding of what would feel good on below average days in the UK. Yes, foam is your friend, but not so much that it becomes novel and a hinderance in variable wave shapes and conditions. Yes, short lengths fit into all kinds of small shapes, but its important to have the right amount of foam and rail length to make the most out of weak, often shapeless waves. With lots of development and tinkering the short time was born....

The outline is full and round with very little break in curve giving you a speed demon that is loose and very fluid through flat spots. You ride this board short, but not super short, it's not about fitting in a pocket, there are no pockets in the UK when it's in terrible conditions. We advise go 2 inches shorter than your height.

The rocker is classic groveller and pretty flat. You have some lift in the nose and tail, but predominantly this board is about speed and the result is the flattest rocker in our range.

The foil is generous. A slight s-deck approach gives us a nicely foiled out tail area with a high volume deck especially where your front foot sits. The thinner tail cuts into the wave giving you control whilst the rest of the board is set up for speed and stability.

The rails are boxy and full, but due to the chamfered deck line they are sensitive enough to engage when you do get the chance.

The bottom contours are essentially a double concave for 3/4 of the board which gently forms into a vee in the front 1/4. The front displaces water giving lift, the rest allows air to flow beneath the board with the water, also creating lift. The result is loads of lift and an ability maintain drive as you transition from rail to rail. Permanent glide, trim, and speed.

The fin set up is a 5 fin, with a quad set up probably our first choice. There is however loads of scope to play around with different fin arrangements with just as much fun being had on 2+1 and even thruster set ups. In a nut shell explore and have fun, you wont regret it.

When it comes to consturction the ESE and Flex Tech would perhaps be the obvious options, with the extra float and responsiveness working well in weak waves. The Base and ECO base should not be dismissed, the Short Time does have great rail length and so lends itself really nicely to a more relaxed and carvey type of surfing.

The Short time is a small UK wave masterpiece. You will catch a lot of waves, you will chuck way more spray than you thought you would, and you will never see a bad forecast at your local beach again. The Short Time makes you surf in anything, and has the flexibility to surf a range of conditions, especially if the swell picks up or finds some shape mid surf. It can do things no other surfboard in our range can do and for that reason alone it should be an essential addition to your quiver.
