Derived from our all time best seller and original one board quiver, the ' Doofer This ', we present the ' Doofer That '. Another world-class everyday hybrid from Luke Hart and his team, but this time one that specialises in progressive surfing for smaller weaker waves.

BASE Construction Info:

Using the finest blanks, glass, and resins available our Base construction combines that classic PU flex and versatility with world class shaping, materials, and finishing

BLANK: SOLARMADE US Blanks PU

GLASS: Under 6'4"

  • Bottom; 4oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass
  • Top; 4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass

GLASS: Over 6'4"

  • Bottom; 6oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass
  • Top; 4oz + 6oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass

RESIN: ISO 10X Resin

FLEX: Our most flexible construction

WEIGHT: Heavier than our EPS constructions

DING RESISTANCE: Relative to other PU boards ours are some of the toughest. Not as ding resistant as our Eco Base and EPS constructions

ECO BASE Construction Info:

Made from the same core blank as our Base construction, but with a heavier weight glass job for added durability and finished in the ground breaking Resin Research Bio Resin Epoxy

BLANK: SOLARMADE US Blanks PU

GLASS: Under 6'4"

  • Bottom; 6oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass
  • Top; 4oz + 6oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass

GLASS: Over 6'4"

  • Bottom; 6oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass
  • Top; 4oz + 6oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass

RESIN: Resin Research Bio Resin Epoxy

FLEX: Middle of the ground flexibility, not as much flex as our Base or Flex Tech, but more than our toughest F1X construction

WEIGHT: Our heaviest construction

DING RESISTANCE: After our F1X construction this is the second toughest we do. That extra glassing really doing its job

ESE Construction Info:

Simple, quality, and highly effective. Our ESE utilises US Blanks Superfused EPS in its purest form, with just some carbon fibre re-enforcement along the black stringer to give it some extra pop

BLANK: SOLARMADE US Blanks Superfused EPS

GLASS: Under 6'4" & Over 6'4"

  • Bottom; 4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E & S-Glass
  • Top; 4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E & S-Glass + Carbon Stringer Re-enforcement

RESIN: Resin Research Epoxy

FLEX: Middle of the ground flexibility, not as much flex as our Base or Flex Tech, but more than our toughest F1X construction

WEIGHT: One of our lightest constructions with only the Flex Tech construction lighter

DING RESISTANCE: Middle of the ground toughness, showing stronger ding resistance than our Base and Flex Tech, but not as much as our ECO Base or F1X constructions

FLEX TECH Construction Info:

Similar to the ESE but with the addition of a PU stringer that adds both flex and damping. Despite being our lightest construction it rides with a smoother feel not normally associated with EPS

BLANK: SOLARMADE US Blanks Superfused EPS with PU Stringer

GLASS: Under 6'4" & Over 6'4"

  • Bottom; 4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E & S-Glass
  • Top; 4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E & S-Glass + Carbon Stringer Re-enforcement

RESIN: Resin Research Epoxy

FLEX: After our Base construction this is the next most flexible

WEIGHT: Our lightest construction

DING RESISTANCE: Similar to ESE with middle of the ground toughness, showing stronger ding resistance than our Base, but not as much as our ECO Base or F1X constructions

F1X Construction Info:

Similar to the Flex Tech construction with its PU stringer but with an additional layer of INNEGRA fibre making it our toughest construction

BLANK: SOLARMADE US Blanks Superfused EPS with PU Stringer

GLASS: Under 6'4" & Over 6'4"

  • Bottom; 4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E & S-Glass
  • Top; (4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass) + INNEGRA fibre layer

RESIN: Resin Research Epoxy

FLEX: The strength of this construction means that it also has the least flex

WEIGHT: Despite its strength it is lighter than both our Base and ECO Base constructions, but heavier than ESE and Flex Tech constructions

DING RESISTANCE: Our toughest construction, both in terms of ding resistance and life time durability

The concept for the ' Doofer That ' is a simple one. Create something that feels like the ' Doofer This ' in good surf, but with easier wave catching abilities, tighter arcs, and a more free feeling tail in smaller junkier waves. The perfect one board quiver for UK waves.

The outline of the ' Doofer That ' has a slightly lower wide point than the ' Doofer This ' and so adds more curve in the back half of the board, giving it extra pivot, and greater forgiveness when turning at lower speeds. In addition, there is a little extra width so reducing parallelity and increasing overall curve, two things that also improve the boards slow motion manouverability.

The rocker of the ' Doofer That ' is flatter than its predecessor, allowing more board engagement with the water relative to the amount of length in the board. More board in the water means more energy from the wave in weak conditions. A flater profile also means less resistance when paddling.

The foil is more concentrated, packing more foam in the chest and mid point areas whilst still blending nicely into the rockers. More foam means more float and stability in slower waves, with the seamless blending maintaining smoth and easy transitions for a responsive feeling board.

The rails flow nicely from the flatter deck, with enough foam for easy transitions, but not too much enabling you push the board firmly on rail through turns without the worry of skipping out. The tail area looses some foam with a much bladier profile out towards the rails. This ensures maximum torque can be applied off the back foot, this an essential feature for any performance based board.

The bottom shape maintains a single through the mid and back section of the board with light vee at the entry and behind the back fin. This set up gives the best balance of the lift you need in waves with less power, whilst maintaining the fluid rail to rail transactions associated with progressive surfing.

As for fins, we would encourage you to experiment given the versatility and forgiving nature of this board. For starters though, we recomend a thruster for more up and down surfing, and quad when you want some down the line drive and speed. The MF FCS II thrusters are a solid option, as are the H4 FCS II quad set. Take your pick and you really cant loose.

As for construction, given its smaller wave propensity we recommend the E.S.E flex tech as the one to go for. It gives you that little extra float and a bit more responsiveness when your working it harder in small waves. The Base construction is still a winner though, especially if you have a slightly more relaxed style, or just enjoy the feel of a slightly more planted board.

The ' Doofer That ' encapsulates all that is required to enjoy lots of waves both in the UK and abroad. It combines forgiveness with fast, fluid, rail to rail surfing, and a penchant for smaller weaker waves that surpasses its older sibling, the 'Doofer This'. If we were looking for a one board quiver primarily for the UK, this would be our choice. If we were looking for a one board quiver for travel and better waves, the 'Doofer This' would be our go too. Either way, whether it'll 'Doofer This', or 'Doofer That', the Doofer range is all the board you will ever need.
