The concept for this model came from wanting a faster, skatier feel to the original round tailed Chilli Bean template. With a change in tail width and shape we could afford to lose a bit of foam in the tail area and rails. The result is a more sensitive and mobile board, making the Chilli Wrap a slightly more performance oreientated offering than the Chilli Bean. It does exactly what we hoped it would.
The outline of the Chilli Wrap is slightly more parallel compared to the Chilli Bean and the tail is obviously wider which accentuates the straighter lines even further. Leaning on that for your down the line speed and connectivity meant we can add sensitivities in other areas of the board to maximise performance in similar waves.
The entry rocker is slightly increased whilst the tail rocker is actually slightly decreased. Foam taken out of the tail area to add sensitivity is balanced beautifully by the flatter rocker to ensure that balance and speed is always optimised when surfing off your back foot. All great fishes are loose yet controllable and the Chilli Wrap embodies that ethos.
The foil is fluid, holding foam throughout which is maximised in the chest area for greater stability and poise.
The rails are pinched slightly, more than the Chilli Bean, to cope with the extra drive and responsiveness as well as adding a bit of hold to cope with the wider tails earlier release off the top.
The bottom contours consist of a very subtle vee in the nose which flows down a subtle single to slightly exaggerated double through the fins and out the back of the board. the vee adds control and forgiveness whilst the single maintains the lift , letting the double do its job to maintain effortless rail to rail transitions. Its a fluid feeling speed demon, which is a trademark of all the boards within our Chilli series.
For the fin set ups on this board we recommend going for a twin plus trailer in the small and clean stuff, quad if you want some added drive or standard thruster if you want more of a conventional feel. The power twin plus trailer from fcs2 gets the nod from us or the h4's if you want to go quad.
If you want to maximise the speed and whip of the Chilli Wrap we would advise going for on of the EPS constructions (ESE, Flex Tech, and F1X). If you want to focus more on the fluid nature of this fast feeling fish then Base or ECO Base construction could be the way to go.
The Chilli Wrap is how you make the most of after work surfs, its lightning quick, easy to control, whilst maintaining a wild freedom we all love to feel from a proper fish.
