DING RESISTANCE: After our F1X construction this is the second toughest we do. That extra glassing really doing its job
ESE Construction Info:
Simple, quality, and highly effective. Our ESE utilises US Blanks Superfused EPS in its purest form, with just some carbon fibre re-enforcement along the black stringer to give it some extra pop

FLEX TECH Construction Info:
Similar to the ESE but with the addition of a PU stringer that adds both flex and damping. Despite being our lightest construction it rides with a smoother feel not normally associated with EPS
BLANK: SOLARMADE US Blanks Superfused EPS with PU Stringer

DING RESISTANCE: Similar to ESE with middle of the ground toughness, showing stronger ding resistance than our Base, but not as much as our ECO Base or F1X constructions
F1X Construction Info:
Similar to the Flex Tech construction with its PU stringer but with an additional layer of INNEGRA fibre making it our toughest construction
BLANK: SOLARMADE US Blanks Superfused EPS with PU Stringer
GLASS: Under 6'4" & Over 6'4"
- Bottom; 4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E & S-Glass
- Top; (4oz + 4oz Hexcel Premium E-Glass) + INNEGRA fibre layer

DING RESISTANCE: Our toughest construction, both in terms of ding resistance and life time durability

The concept for the Chilli Jam was seeing the gap between our daily-fun fish, the Chilli Wrap, and our uk all-rounder shortboard the HP Chilli. In that respect the Chilli Jam takes the fun, speed and looseness of the fish and combines with with the rip’abillity and dynamism of the shortboard. The result is the best of both worlds and its an instant hit.
The outline is of the classic Chilli family lineage. From the Chilli Wrap we have pulled the nose in slightly, taken some width out of the template and hipped the tail into a beautifully soft rounded squash tail. This adds quicker rail to rail transitions, offers a bit more pivot and sensitivity whilst still maintaining that stable platform, speed and fluidity.
The rocker is increased slightly from the Chilli Wrap to aid poise and pivot on rail, allowing for tighter arcs and more control in the pocket. Its not high rocker by any standards but starts to gently lean into the realm of performance based surfing.
The bottom concaves offer no changes, which means its a single through-out with a small amount of rolled double through the fins. It feels with what can only be described as a majestic ease to its mobility as it cuts lines on the face.
The foil is again similar to the Chilli Wrap with slightly more foam forward but in a slightly more compact package overall.
The rails are slightly boxier to allow for some extra torque through turns with a slightly more high performance feel compared to the rest of the Chilli family. You want to push this board harder and across a wide range of conditions so taking a bit of the fish slide away and adding some extra hold with release points in the outline just made sense.
The fin set ups’ are so varied for this board. In that respect it holds its own as a thruster, a quad and still thrives as a twin plus trailer. There is no out and out winner, it’s a case of personal preference and catering to the waves on offer. We recommend quad for hollow waves, twin plus trailer for softer waves and thruster for everything in the middle.
Construction is open to debate. For the most well rounded performer we are leaning on base construction but the team has been split right down the middle with some going for ese flex tech and some base…. I would say if you consider yourself a heavier footed surfer, go for epoxy based constructions, and for lighter surfers who want an all rounder, jump on the base.
The Chilli Jam is an easy to use surfboard that bridges the gap between fishy fun and shortboard esq performance. From riders to shapers, and everybody in between here at Colab there is a lot of love for this board, which makes this model a huge contender for our ‘next big thing’.
